The Making of Uniwax's 2024 Lookbook

Setting the Scene

The anticipation was palpable as the team gathered early in the morning at La Maison d’Akoula, Assinie. The location, a picturesque retreat surrounded by lush greenery and serene waters, set the perfect backdrop for Uniwax’s 2024 lookbook photoshoot. As the sun began to rise, its rays gently kissed the earth, casting a magical glow over the scene.

Preparation and Styling

Stylists Mad & Lee Style and Rocard Yapo, along with makeup artist Raph Metamorphose, worked meticulously to prepare the models. The women’s outfits, vibrant and rich in colours, were carefully chosen to reflect the themes of the new collection: cultural pride and contemporary elegance. Each garment, a masterpiece of Uniwax’s renowned wax print fabrics, told a unique story.

“Every piece is a blend of tradition and modernity,” explained stylist Rocard Yapo, as he adjusted the folds of a dress. “We want to showcase the versatility and beauty of our Ivorian heritage.”

Capturing the Moment

Photographer Daniel Damessi of OneShot Studio orchestrated the shoot with a keen eye for detail. He directed the models, ensuring each shot captured the essence of the Uniwax brand. The vibrant patterns and bold colours of the fabrics came alive against the natural backdrop.

“Smile, let’s see that joy!” Daniel called out, capturing a model mid-laughter. The atmosphere was one of celebration and camaraderie, embodying the “joie de vivre” that is at the heart of our culture.

In the Frame

Marie-Rose, one of the models, stood out in her yellow and green 'Chacun sa route' dress. Her radiant smile and graceful poses brought a sense of life and energy to the shoot. “It’s more than just wearing a dress,” she said during a break. “It’s about expressing pride in who we are and where we come from.”

The Unseen Efforts

Behind the scenes, the Brand team from Uniwax & Mattmo Creative worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. From concept and design to production, their efforts were evident in the seamless execution of the shoot. Creative directors Monique Mulder and Paul van Ravestein coordinated with videographer Roland Gogo to capture not just photos but the essence of the experience.

Special Touches

Each scene was meticulously planned, yet there was room for spontaneity. At the Parc National des Iles Ehotilé, the models interacted with the environment, blending the natural beauty with the elegance of the fabrics. “We want to show how Uniwax fits into every aspect of life, from the everyday to the extraordinary,” said Monique Mulder.

Finale

As the day drew to a close, the team reflected on their efforts. The shoot was not just about showcasing clothes but celebrating a culture and its people. The final shots, vibrant and full of life, encapsulated the spirit of the new collection. “Uniwax is more than just fabric; it’s a story, an experience,” said Uniwax’s marketing director Sandra Manouan, summing up the essence of the day. “We are proud to share this journey with everyone.”

Thus, the 2024 Uniwax lookbook was born—a testament to the vibrant pulse of contemporary Ivorian pride and cultural relevance, captured beautifully in each frame.
