The Minister of the Environment visits UNIWAX

As part of the entry into force of the decree on the import, production and possession of plastic bags in Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Rémi Allah Kouadio, the Minister of the environment, urban waste management and sustainable development, visited UNIWAX.

The Minister wanted to discuss with the general management of how important it is to comply with that decree to come into force on 22 November 2013. 

On that occasion, Mr. Menudier, UNIWAX CEO, presented the Minister copies of shopping bags combining fabric and cartons, which, in addition to the conventional paper bags the company will use to pack its products, will be manufactured and offered to the best customers.  

This innovation was welcomed by the Minister Rémi Allah Kouadio who encouraged and congratulated the company. "This visit shows that banning plastic bags is not bad, quite the contrary, it is a step forward in preserving the environment and improving people's living conditions” he added. 

Subsequently, the Minister was offered a guided tour of the factory and he noted the efforts by UNIWAX in the treatment of waste and waste water.
